Amazing grace how sweet the sound

 アメイジング・グレイス何と美しい響きだろうか

  That saved a wretch like me. 　

 私のような哀れな者も救ってくれたこの神の恵みは

  I once was lost but now am found, 　

 かつて私は自分を失っていたが今は自分を見つけた

  Was blind but now I see. 　

 盲目だった私も今は目が見える

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,

 神の恵みこそが私の心に恐れることを教え

 And grace my fears relieved,

 神の恵みが私の恐れを解放してくれた  (押韻の為語順転倒、4も)

 How precious did that grace appear,　

 どれほどその恵みが貴重に見えたことか       

 The hour I first believed ! 　

 私が初めて神を信じたその時に

Through many dangers, toils and snares　

 多くの危険や苦労や罠を抜けて

  I have already come. 　

 私はここまで来たが

  'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,

 神の恵みこそが私を無事にここまで遠く導き

  And grace will lead me home.　

 さらに家まで導いてくれるだろう

Lord has promised good to me,  

 主は私に善を約束された

  His Word my hope secures; 　

 主の言葉は私の望みを堅固なものにし

  He will my shield and portion be　

 主は私の盾となり私の一部となるだろう

 As long as life endures.

Yes,when this heart and flesh shall fail,

 そう、この心と体が衰え

 And mortal life shall cease,  

 死を免れぬ命が終わろうとも

 I shall possess[ﾎﾟｾﾞｽ] within the vail(=veil)

 私は手に入れるのだ、天国の中で　

 cf. beyond the veil (現世から)来世では

 A life of joy and peace.  

 喜びと安らぎの日々を

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, 　

 大地はじきに雪のように解け

 The sun forbear to shine.　

 太陽は輝くのを止めるだろう 　

 forbear to～することを慎む

 But God, Who called me here below,  

 しかし神は、この下界の私を召された方は

 Will be forever mine. 　

 永遠に私のものになるだろう

When we've been there ten thousand years,

 私達が今まで一万年地上に居ようとも

 Bright shining as the sun, 　

 太陽のように明るく輝かしい(日々にかかる）  　

 We've no less days to sing God's praise　

 最初に歌い始めた時以上に多くの日々が私達にはあり、

 Than when we'd first begun. 　

神への賛美を歌い続けるのだ
